The DOSDC (District of Sicamous Development Corporation) facilitates communication and economic development for current and prospective businesses in the Sicamous area through providing information, tourism resources, real estate connections, investment opportunities, workshops and general advice.
As a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of seven local business owners and members of the public, we set out to create events, invest in programs, and engage in partnerships with other communities to increase visibility for Sicamous and the Shuswap as an all-season destination as well as a great place to live and do business.
The DOSDC has accomplished many goals over the years. We produced comprehensive Community and Investment Profiles for distribution and provided support to the local business community by facilitating business walks, info sessions, workshops, industry round tables, etc.
Additionally, as the Community Destination Marketing Organization (CDMO) for Sicamous, we oversee the allocation of MRDT funds to create and promote initiatives that benefit the tourism industry. We design and distribute yearly Visitor Experience Guides and run the Explore Sicamous social media pages and website. We were also successful in making Sicamous the sole Canadian stop for the UCI Pump Track World Championships in 2024 and 2025 – which has brought many visitors to the area and increased awareness of Sicamous on the world stage.
As we enter another year and are faced with new challenges, the DOSDC has made it a priority to be there to support local businesses as they navigate concerns of economic insecurity and potential hardships. We are here to provide resources and information regarding the current economic climate as well as find new and creative ways to bring more visitors to the area, assist in connecting businesses with potential hires, promote off-season tourism and expand the reach and visibility of Sicamous’ diverse industries.
